Equal Opportunity

The University of Texas at Dallas provides equality of opportunity in education and employment for all students and employees. An “Individual with a Disability” is any person who: (1) has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more of a person’s major life activities; (2) has a record of such impairment; or (3) is regarded as having such an impairment.

For Veterans

You are a “protected veteran” under VEVRAA if you belong to one of the categories of veterans described below.

  • Disabled veteran: A veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military and (1) is entitled to disability compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to disability compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, or (2) was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.
  • Recently separated veteran: A veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran’s discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.
  • Active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran: A veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.
  • Armed Forces Service Medal veteran: Any veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985 (61 FR 1209) (an operation in which the participants encountered no foreign armed opposition or imminent hostile action).
